Next-gen Honda Civic getting a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine

The tenth generation of the Honda Civic will benefit from a new turbo petrol engine, according to a recent report.

Automotive News is reporting the unit will be used as an entry-level powerplant and will help the manufacturer meet the latest emissions standards.

Our source is quoting Honda’s global R&D head Yoshiharu Yamamoto, who said “downsized turbocharging will be the base, even for the Civic”.

There’s still nothing official, but according to AN, the new motor will have a displacement of 1.5 liters and will be offered along with a naturally aspirated engine.

Yamamoto also commented the turbo unit will deliver the same power and torque as the 2.0 and 2.4-liter naturally aspirated units and even better fuel efficiency.
