BMW highlights their first electric vehicle ( video )
BMW has released a new video which highlights their first electric vehicle.
Billed as the predecessor to the i3, the 1602e was introduced in 1972 and used at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich.
While both the car and the games were overshadowed by a hostage crisis, the 1602e featured a Bosch electric engine and twelve 12-volt batteries that weighed a total of 350 kg (771.6 lbs).
This enabled the car to have a range of approximately 60 km (37.2 miles) which pales in comparison to the i3 which can travel 130–160 km (81–99 miles) on a single charge.
