Continuing in its journey towards promoting the sport of golf, United Tractors and Equipment (UTE) sponsored the UTE-CAT Challenge trophy and the Pam Fernando Challenge trophy for the fourth consecutive year.

The two tournaments were held in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Open Golf Championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Golf Union, which was held from January 27th to January 30 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

The UTE-CAT Challenge trophy for gentlemen took place on January 27th and 28th, while the Pam Fernando tournament for Ladies was played on January 29th and 30th.

“Sri Lankans can become world class golfers and UTE representing Caterpillar which is a world class manufacturer gives us an opportunity to showcase that quality through promoting golf in Sri Lanka” explained the CEO of UTE, Mr. Riyad Ismail. “Furthermore, we have been a long standing supporter of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious golfing event - The Sri Lanka Open,” he added.

Although the Sri Lanka Open is mainly for professional golfers, the UTE-CAT challenge trophy is for amateur golfers and provides them with an opportunity to play with the best.

The Pam Fernando Trophy is awarded to the best lady amateur golfer.
