Three Sri Lankans have won themselves trackside seats, air travel and accommodation to be in the thick of the action at the 2014 Singapore night races, courtesy the country’s leading tyre brand CEAT.

Ransiri Fernando, Jeremy McShane and Heshani Peris are the lucky winners of this amazing dream opportunity offered by CEAT via a promotion conducted on EFM in August, for CEAT radial tyres.

Chosen from three categories of participants -- new users of CEAT radials, existing users and those who answered an on-air quiz on the brand -- the three winners will each receive a return air ticket, four-star hotel accommodation for three nights, race tickets for all three days of the event and passes for the post-race celebrations.

The 2014 Formula I Singapore Grand Prix takes place on 19th, 20th and 21st September on the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The CEAT – Singapore Night Race promotion was part of a larger, three-month radio promotion conducted by CEAT Kelani Holdings to celebrate the launch of a new Rs 650 million, state-of-the-art production facility in Sri Lanka earlier this year for the manufacture of tyres for high-end cars and Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs).

“Besides being the highest selling radial tyre brand in Sri Lanka CEAT has also become synonymous with motor racing in this country, as a result of the achievements of the CEAT Racing Team on local circuits,” said Ravi Dadlani, Vice President Sales & Marketing at CEAT Kelani Holdings. “There was great synergy therefore, between the brand and this promotion, which helped us engage with a large cross section of radial tyre users.”

Formally commissioned on 10th June 2014, the new CEAT radial plant is seamlessly integrated with the existing CEAT Kelani manufacturing complex at Kelaniya. The new radial tyre production facility enables the company to augment its radial tyre building and curing capacity by 70 per cent to 450,000 tyres a year, thereby substituting more than 60 per cent of the country’s imports in this category.

A global tyre brand present in 110 countries and now headquartered in India, CEAT is an acronym that stands for Cavi Electrici Affini Torino, or Electrical Cables & Allied Products of Turin, with origins that date back to 1924 in Italy. A National Business Excellence Award winner in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and a National Quality Award winner in the ‘Manufacturing – Large’ category in 2013, CEAT - Kelani Holdings is a successful Indo-Sri Lanka joint venture between the RPG Group of India and Kelani Tyre – Sri Lanka. The company operates three manufacturing units in Sri Lanka and employs a workforce of 1,000 people.
