Kappa optronics | Acquisition of Schmid Engineering GmbH pushes mirror replacement system

Businesscafe - Kappa optronics GmbH, headquartered in Göttingen - Gleichen / Germany, is a technology leader for high-end mirror replacement systems.

Through the acquisition of the renowned Schmid Engineering GmbH in Erlangen, the technology portfolio has now been decisively strategically expanded.

Kappa's digital mirror is already the benchmark in the field of hypercars and race cars from Aston Martin to KTM.

Now, the automotive-grade design with high-performance, cost-effective system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology is being adapted for the broader market, including industrialized manufacturing.

The focus is on solutions for cars and large vehicles such as trucks and buses.

These go from fuel savings through optimized aerodynamic design, to safety gains through better visual support for drivers, to additional functions that can be integrated, such as anti-theft protection.
