Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Ltd. (STC) has expanded its STC General Product portfolio with the launch of a 65 inch Smart Board, inverter air-conditioner and instant electric hot-water shower, extending its offering across digital technology and consumer electrical products.
The products were launched at a ceremony at Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo, under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Co-operative Development R.M Jayawardane, and Deputy Minister of Co-operative Development Upali Samarasinghe with the participation of STC Chairman/Managing Director Ravindra Fernando, senior officials, institutional customers and employees.
The launch forms part of STC’s effort to expand its own-brand range and strengthen its presence in institutional and consumer markets.
Technology and electrical products have become an increasingly important component of the Corporation’s business alongside its established trading and procurement operations.
The 65 inch STC General Smart Board features a 4K UHD display, 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, Android 16 operating system and a 48MP built-in camera.
Designed for educational institutions, training centres, meeting rooms and corporate environments, the Smart Board supports interactive teaching, presentations and digital collaboration.
The STC General instant electric hot-water shower is available in 3.5kW and 4.5kW models.
It includes a silent DC booster pump for low-water-pressure conditions, LED temperature display, built-in Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB), manual reset thermostat and IPX4 splash-proof casing.
The product carries a five-year warranty on the heater element and a two year warranty on the system, with an introductory price of Rs. 44,990.
The STC General Inverter air-conditioner is designed for household, commercial and institutional applications.
Its key features include stabilizer-free operation designed to handle voltage fluctuations between 165V and 285V, along with Flexi 5-in-1 cooling, allowing cooling capacity to be adjusted according to room size and user requirements.
The unit also incorporates an anti-mildew function that dries the evaporator coil to help limit bacterial growth.
The air-conditioner also features 100% copper tubing, corrosion protection measures for indoor and outdoor components, a filter-clean indicator, low refrigerant detection and multiple sensors designed to optimise performance.
A dry mode is included for greater comfort during humid weather conditions.
Commenting on the launch, STC Chairman/Managing Director Ravindra Fernando said
“The expansion of the STC General range is part of our strategy to build a stronger own brand portfolio that responds to the requirements of both institutional and consumer markets.
Our focus is on providing reliable products at competitive prices, backed by after-sales support, while expanding into areas such as digital learning, workplace technology and household electrical solutions.”
The event also included a felicitation ceremony recognising institutions that have maintained longstanding business relationships with STC.
A total of 36 awards were presented to institutional customers, comprising eight Appreciation and Recognition Awards, 10 Overall Best Performer Awards, 10 Long Service Awards and eight Zonal Sales Excellence Awards.
Recipients represented ministries, Government departments, universities, security institutions, local authorities and other public sector organisations that have engaged with STC over the years.
