ISO 27001 is an internationally recognized specification for an Information Security Management System (ISMS) while ISO 27701 enables ADL as an Information Technology (IT) and digital solutions service provider to take our Information Security Management System to the next level.
ISO 27701 is an extension of ISO 27001 and sets additional guidelines for how personally identifiable information (PII) should be managed and processed.
With these certifications, ADL’s clients can be assured that ADL has stringent protocols and processes in place to manage sensitive data that are in line with ISO standards.
ADL accomplished the extraordinary feat of receiving two certifications in a single audit after a rigorous 10-month process to implement company-wide information security processes and controls.
The certification was conducted by DNV, an international body that helps organizations advance safety and sustainability throughout their business.
DNV has issued more than 90,000 certifications worldwide and works with Fortune 500 and smaller to medium-sized companies.
“Congratulations to the team.
You have shown an outstanding approach to building a sustainable process,” said, Thushera Kawdawatta, Chief Executive Officer of Axiata Digital Labs.
"Your contribution to the organization is of the highest caliber possible and deserves praise.
It is incredible that you have committed yourself, adhered to worldwide standards, and shown what you are capable of doing in such a short amount of time.
I have no doubt that we will reach our goal of becoming a world-class organization if we stick to the best practices we set out.”
ADL has a history of implementing processes to adhere to international guidelines and industry best practices.
In 2020, ADL became the first company in Sri Lanka to be appraised at CMMI 2.0 Level 3, and with this ISO certification, ADL continues to deliver on its promise to be a world-class organization.
“We are very proud to say that Axiata Digital Labs has been certified as an ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO 27701:2019 Organization,” said Thusitha Senanayake, Head of Process at ADL.

This signifies not only ADL's commitment to information security and data privacy of customers we are serving but also many stringent internal controls implemented to protect information assets.
This certification is definitely going to build trust with our customers and make ADL’s footprint grow further.”
Thusitha further elaborated, “I would like to apricate our enthusiastic and ever-motivated ADL Shared Services Teams and Delivery teams who stood up to the challenge in implementing information security and data privacy best practices and clearing the certification audit in style and with excellence.
