In honor of Father’s Day, we sat down with four dads at Samsung Sri Lanka Management team, to get their take on fatherhood.
We spoke with Mr. Thushara Rathnaweera ( Head of Sales & Marketing), Mr. Sabry Ansary ( Director/ Head of CE Business ) Mr. Sameera Prasanga ( Chief Manager Finance) , Mr Sampath Ranatunga Manager, CS Field Operation) and four super dads from each department to discuss how to balance parenthood with career responsibilities, what they’ve learned most from raising kids and what piece of advice they all collectively agree on for new dads.

Mr. Thushara Rathnaweera
Thushara is a dedicated professional with over a decade of experience in the mobile business industry, holding the position of head of Sales & Marketing.
Throughout his career, he has strived to drive innovation and bring cutting-edge technologies and services to all valued customers.
However, amidst the fast-paced corporate world, his most cherished role is being a parent to his adorable daughter, Kiara.
At 1.2 years old, she is the epitome of joy and wonder, and she brings an unparalleled sense of amazement to his life.
Witnessing Kiara's milestones and sharing in her growth is the most gratifying and rewarding experience he could ever have imagined.
She truly is the most amazing thing in his life.
Mr. Sabry Ansar
Sabry Ansar has been working with Samsung Sri Lanka 12+ years, where he currently holds the position of Director, CE Biz.Beyond his professional life, he is a proud father of three loving kids Daughter Zuha, Sons Zaid & Ayman.
He cherishes the joy and fulfilment that his children bring to his life. His role as a dedicated professional and a loving dad exemplifies his ability to balance his career and family with grace and devotion
Mr. Sameera Prasanga
Sameera Prasanga has been with Samsung Sri Lanka for more than 5 years and currently holds the position of Chief Manager Finance.
He’s a loving father of two daughters.
He appreciates the happiness and fulfillment daughters bring into his life.
Mr. Sampath Ranatunga
Sampath is the Manager Customer Satisfaction Group – Sri Lanka Branch. He has been in the company for 1.5 years, and he’s a proud dad of two sons, Diyon Lithmin (6) and Kiyen Keneth (4). As a father, Sampath wants the best for his sons.
Mr. Chaminda Silva
Chaminda presently holds the position of Chief Manager B2C Channel Sales.
And he’s a proud father of three sons.
Oneth, Eminth, Rivith. As a loving father of 3 sons, the most important part of Chaminda’s life is to become the role model to his sons.
Mr. Lakshan Coorey
Lakshan has been working with Samsung for more than five years, and is Chief Manager, B2C Channel Sales CE.
He’s a loving father of two daughters and one son.
Linaya Cooray, Leon Cooray and Leora Cooray.

Mr. Beshan Somarathna
Beshan currently works as Manager, Logistics Management at Samsung Sri Lanka and he is a loving father to his son and daughter.
It’s the greatest honor he has received to be a father to his kids and he wants best for his family.
Mr. Anton Shalika
Anton has been working with Samsung for over 2 years, and he operates as an E&R Assistant Manager, DOA (CS Team) He is a loving father to a son and a daughter.
Angelina 7 years and Angelo 3 years.
His greatest gift and joy is to be with his kids.
1.What has given you the most joy as a dad?
Thushara - As a father, the most profound source of joy in my life comes from the boundless love and happiness experience through my daughter, Kiara.
Every moment spent with her fills my heart with immeasurable joy.
From the first time she smiled, her first steps, to her infectious laughter, each milestone and precious memory brings an indescribable sense of fulfillment.
Watching her grow, explore the world with wide-eyed wonder, and witnessing her unique personality blossom is a constant reminder of the incredible privilege and blessing it is to be her dad.
Kiara's presence has enriched my life in countless ways and being her father is a role that fills me with everlasting joy.
Sabry - Witnessing their growth and development, and being part of their milestones and achievements.
Sameera - Watching my kids grow up to be their own person and achieve big milestones.
Sampath - I still remember the very first day that my wife told me that I was going to be a father, and those words took me into another world.
When I held my son in my arms for the very first time and looked into his eyes, I realized there is no other joy in the world than being a parent and giving a life to a child to make a better future.
Chaminda – Love ( unconditional love of my sons )
Lakshan - They grow physically and healthy with good values.
They are sensible on family members specially in hard times.
Beshan - I mostly cherish the moments I spend with my kids, embracing the connection I have with them on different levels at their different moments and milestones.
Such as when we play various creative games they come up with when reading, when they are learning something new through their curiosity, etc.
Especially is when they reach different milestones by themselves such as new manners, new words, how they show empathy, etc.
Mostly the unconditional love they share with me brings me the most joy.
Anton - lovely words of my kids and the joy they give me.
2.What have you learned from your children?
Thushara - Children have an incredible ability to teach us invaluable lessons about life, love, and the power of innocence.
Through my daughter, Kiara, I have learned the importance of living in the present moment and finding joy in the simplest of things.
Her uninhibited curiosity and fearlessness inspire me to embrace new experiences and see the world with fresh eyes.
Kiara has taught me patience, resilience, and the art of unconditional love.
I have learned to prioritize what truly matters in life and to cherish the small, fleeting moments that create lasting memories.
Through her, I have discovered the boundless capacity of a parent's heart and the immeasurable rewards of nurturing and supporting another human being.
Kiara has transformed me into a better person, reminding me of the beauty and wonder that exists all around us.
Sabry - Unconditionally Love, Creativity and imagination.
Sameera - Find Happiness in the smallest of things.
Sampath - Every day is a fresh start for them. Children are fearless learners and so excited to learn new things.
Children are not afraid to show their feelings, and their feelings are so genuine.
Chaminda - Every child is unique, and there are countless lessons to be learned from them.
The key is to approach fatherhood with an open mind and heart, embracing the opportunities for growth and living in the present moment, Unconditional love.
Lakshan - They more preferred a happy family and engagement with parents.
They ensure the family bond give smart solutions.
Beshan - I have learned to regulate my feelings and emotions leading to regulated calm words that will calm and motivate my children giving them the assurance that they are being loved without any judgment.
Anton - Trust and love
3.How do you create work-life balance?
Thushara - Creating work-life balance is crucial for overall well-being.
To achieve this balance, it's important to set clear boundaries between work and personal life, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities.
Managing time effectively, practicing self-care, and communicating openly with employers and loved ones are key.
Taking regular breaks, unplugging from work, and being fully present in personal activities contribute to a healthier balance.
Remember, it's a continuous effort that requires reassessment and adjustments to prioritize well-being and personal life alongside work responsibilities.
I have dedicated my weekends and holidays only to myself and my family.
Sabry - Prioritize family time especially when I'm at home with my kids and wife.
Sameera - My kids are getting to the ages where they are both doing activities at the same time.
They always come first, so you just learn to shuffle.
Sometimes work must take priority, but they love me when I come home. That’s all I can ask.
Chaminda- prioritize and set boundaries, use calendars and schedules to organize your time effectively, specific periods during the day when you focus solely on family time, without distractions from work emails or notifications and regularly communicate with your partner and children about your work commitments and schedule.
Sampath- When I feel good, I will have more energy to have quality time with my family.
I personally like dedicating time to eating dinner together with my wife and my two wonderful sons and it is a must rule at home.
Going on a vacation away from home for a few days together with my wife and the kids is something that will help to distract all the stress on mind and focus fresh.
Lakshan - Spend some quality time with them in after office and specially in weekends
Beshan - Creating a work-life balance is challenging.
But I do not take work home and try my best to prioritize and plan my work schedule with my wife, so we can have uninterrupted family time, especially during the weekends.
On the other hand, we have amazing support from the kid’s Montessori and daycare; taking care of the kids very well of cause my parents and relatives play a huge role in our children's lives.
Anton - I’m giving full time when I’m at home to my children and I’m not mixing up work and family life.
4.What is your dad “superpower”?
Thushara - My superpower as a dad lies in the unique bond and love I share with my child.
My ability to provide guidance, support, and care is unparalleled.
I have the power to inspire and shape my child's life through my words and actions.
My patience, understanding, and unwavering presence make me a pillar of strength for my child.
My superpower lies in being the embodiment of unconditional love and being the most important role model in my child's life.
My love and dedication as a dad have the power to positively impact and shape my child's future.
Sabry - Unconditional Love, Mentor and a role model.
Sameera - I do whatever my family wants or needs from me.
They are my number one priority, and I will always be there for them.
Sampath - I think I am a good listener. I have good listening skills.
Even though I’m occupied with some work it doesn’t matter.
When my kids talk to me any time I calmly listen to them because it is very important, it’s strengthen the bond and develop their trust
Chaminda - Understanding and love
Lakshan - Good engagement and having a friendly relationship. Being a role model to the children.
Beshan - The kids bond with me so much to a level that they trust me to play along in their creative imaginative games which need a lot of patience, playfulness, and unconditional love.
Anton - My super power as a dad is pure love for my kids
5.What advice would you give new dads?
Thushara - As a new dad, here is some advice to help you navigate this transformative journey.
First and foremost, practice patience and flexibility.
Parenthood is a learning process, so be patient with yourself and your baby, and adapt to the ever-changing routines and challenges that may arise.
Be present and engaged in your child's life, cherishing every moment and fostering a strong bond through quality interactions.
Taking care of yourself is crucial, so prioritize your well-being to better care for your little one.
Communicate openly with your partner, share responsibilities, and seek support from experienced parents to create a harmonious parenting environment.
Embrace the joys and celebrate milestones, finding joy in the simple things and treasuring the bond you're building.
Embrace the learning curve, trust your instincts, and be a positive role model, teaching values through your actions.
Enjoy this unique and rewarding journey of fatherhood, as it offers endless opportunities for love, growth, and lifelong memories.
Sabry - Be like a friend to your kids, appreciate their achievements and motivate them if there are any setbacks.
Sameera - Step back and enjoy the time with your kids. It’s remarkable to watch them grow. Just enjoy every phase.
Sampath - Jump right in and get involved in the daily care of your baby.
Show more love to your wife than you loved her before.
Bring her flowers and make her day.
Pay all your attention to your child when they seek your attention.
Chaminda - Trust yourself and your love for your child. Your dedication and care will guide you through the ups and downs of fatherhood.

Lakshan- Should having a good engagement and spent some quality time with children.
Have some regular celebrations as a family.
Share your hardness and goodness with them.
Beshan - Being a parent is a continuous process.
Be patient with yourself and others around you.
Learn from every experience.
Take care of yourself, rest, exercise, and manage your food.
Communicate and connect with your partner and kids. Mainly just enjoy the adventure.

7.How will you be celebrating Father’s Day?
Thushara - Father's Day is a special occasion to celebrate and honor my role as a dad.
I love spending quality time with my family, engaging in activities which all enjoy.
Take time for self-care and relaxation, indulging in activities that bring you joy and rejuvenation.
My favorite part singing favorite songs with my lovely Kiara.
Sabry – Family Outing
Sameera - We’re going to have a relaxing day at home, probably i will cook something special for my kids.
Sampath - I seek out opportunity to spend quality time with my parents and my kids that will leave a lasting impression on them.
These occasions should, in my opinion, be recognized on a regular basis as a way to honor our parents and teach young children to respect their elders.
Chaminda - It's my day, so I’ll choose activities that bring me happiness, relaxation, and fulfillment as a father.
Lakshan - We make the food as per the kids preference and all contribute for making them. Having a dinner party with music.
Beshan - Whichever day it is, bonding with the kids is my priority.
Either by going for a family outing, playing games, etc.
This year I am planning to make popsicles and cook dinner with the kids as they are very interested in the things happening in the kitchen.
Anton - By spending the day with my family.
