The construction of the 114 kilometer long Peradeniya - Chenkalady road which connects the North, Uva and the Eastern provinces will commence before the year end.
The construction will cost USD 140 million.
The first lap from Badulla to Bibila will be completed in three stages while the second stage from Bibila to Chenkalady will also be completed in three stages said the state Minister of Higher Education and Highways Dilan Perera who had a discussion recently with the Uva province government officials.
He instructed the officials to solve the problems and start the construction without delay.
