Mr. Harendra de Silva, past Chairman and Managing Director of Sherman Sons Ltd., had the rare distinction of being President of both the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.
He was also the Chairman of the Colombo Rubber Traders' Association for many years and the Chairman of the Colombo Rubber Buyers Association.
He was also a Board Member of Kelani Tyres Plc, CEAT-Kelani International Tyres (Pvt) Ltd., Kelani Tyres Plc, Wheels Pvt Ltd. and Silverstocks Pvt Ltd.
Mr. de Silva was an old boy of Royal College where he was the first person to play 5 consecutive Bradby Shield tournaments. He also captained both the Rugby and Athletics team.
Mr. de Silva was 74 years old and he leaves behind his wife, two sons and their families.
The remains will be brought to his residence at 65B/2 Mahakurunduwatte Road (also know as Kumaragewatte Road), Talangama South, Battaramulla at 12 noon on Saturday the 8th.
Cortege leaves his residence for cremation at General Cemetery Kanatte at 3:30 PM on Sunday the 9th of November.
