Girl Power Gears up for Fun and Competition to Celebrate International Women’s Day

Following months of build-up, the first ever Girl Power Inter-School Old Girls Sports Meet kicks off this Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the Sports Ministry Grounds. Join the “Old Girls” from six of Colombo’s leading schools, as they mark International Women’s Day with a day of competition and spirit.

The inaugural sports meet will see participants from Holy Family Convent, Ladies', Methodist, Musaeus Colleges, St Paul's Milagiriya and Visakha Vidyalaya battle it out for glory and the top spot, for an event that symbolizes more than just competition, but also a day of camaraderie and unity.

The sports meet comes hot on the heels of last week’s Girl Power Inter-School Old GIrls Cycle Race which was flagged off by the Hon. Sujeewa Senasinghe, Deputy Minister of Justice.

The Race was won by Holy Family Convent, and Musaeus College and Ladies’ College were placed second and third respectively.

The event concluded with a colourful parade which was enjoyed by all.

Of course, to ensure a win, the teams will need ample support from their cheering squads. So make your way down to the Sports Ministry Grounds on Sunday, 8 March from 10.00 a.m., and bring out the loudest cheers you can to spur your school on to victory.
