Imperial College of Business Studies Student Council helping students become versatile individuals who are ready for the real world

Businesscafe - Imperial College of Business Studies (ICBS), one of the fastest-growing education providers in Sri Lanka, is renowned to be an institution that helps in creating well-rounded individuals who are fully prepared to face the challenges of the real world.

One of the key reasons for this success is the Student Council which plays a vital role in encouraging recreational, social, intellectual and cultural activities to offer students an extra-curricular edge that is unmatched.

The Student Council has a flat hierarchy where all members are considered equal and given a platform to voice their opinion, share their ideas and action them responsibly to achieve the desired outcome.

All members actively participate in project activities demonstrating passion, team spirit and dedication to ensure that every event is a huge success.

Driven by the passion of the Council, Imperial College has tasted success in various sporting endeavors in recent times.

Earlier this year, Imperial College triumphed over 11 other teams and emerged local champions in the 9th edition of the Red Bull Campus Cricket, the world-renowned international college cricket tournament where the national winners are given the chance to represent their country and compete in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals.

At the CIMA Sports Day 2019, the ICBS team came in as underdogs but managed to return home as champions.

The Imperial College Futsal team also emerged champions at the CFC Inter Uni Futsal 2020 while the badminton team became undefeated champions at APIIT Sports Extravaganza.

For the first time ever, ICBS students were presented with the opportunity to participate in an athletic championship at the NSBM Sports Fiesta.

Apart from sports, the Student Council also organizes other events to provide students with a diverse experience during their time at Imperial College.

The Imperial Night, a spectacular night that showcases students’ hidden talents in music, dancing and singing, was last held in 2019 and will be making a return after the pandemic period.

The Council also organizes projects that focus on the environment among which the most recent one was a highly successful Beach Cleanup in Negombo.

As the pandemic broke out, the Student Council jumped into action by creating an eye-catching, informative COVID-19 Awareness Video.

With the aim of keeping students safe at home, the Council seamlessly transferred some events to a virtual platform.

Christmas 2020 was celebrated virtually through COVID Jingle ’20 while the Virtual Wesak Lantern competition, Poson Bhakthi Gee and Virtual Avurudu celebrated all the significant events in the calendar year.

There will be an exciting Virtual Baila Session happening this Saturday 28th August 2021 from 6.00 pm onwards to help students relax after the exam and brighten up their lockdown days.

Since its inception, ICBS has established itself as a leading Business School in Sri Lanka and has coached over 50,000 students to date.

ICBS was accredited by CIMA (UK) as a ‘Learning Partner Institute’ in 2004 and is also a Gold Approved Learning Partner (ALP) of ACCA.

With a branch in Kandy also accredited as a Learning Partner Institute in 2013, ICBS became the only institute in South East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa to have 2 Premium Learning Partner Institutes.

It is the only Business School in Sri Lanka with global exposure having partnerships in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan.
