International boost for CA Sri Lanka’s Degree in Applied Accounting as it attracts foreign students

The BSc. Degree in Applied Accounting offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) has received a fresh boost after it attracted an impressive number of students from Oman this month.

The degree programme recognized by the University of Grants Commission was chosen as the ‘most relevant’ degree programme by a leading multinational Omani Oil and Gas company which enrolled several of its employees attached to its company with the BSc. Degree in Applied Accounting.

The Head of Training & Operational Compliance of the multinational company who recently undertook a visit to CA Sri Lanka attributed her company’s decision to register the Omani students due to the degree possessing some vital elements including a ‘very relevant’ syllabus as well as the exceptional infrastructure facilities available at CA Sri Lanka for the benefit of the students following the degree programme.

Admission is currently on for the third intake of the BSc. in Applied Accounting.

In the recent past, CA Sri Lanka has also been propagating the importance of its degree programme among South Asian countries, which is on par with any other degree awarded by national universities in Sri Lanka.

The degree programme is designed to impart quality professional education specific to the existing and emerging requirement of the financial sector. The multi-disciplinary degree programme consist modules in Business communication, Economics, Project Management, Corporate law, Human Resource Management, Information & Communication technology and is conducted by a fully-fledged faculty comprising of qualified professors, senior university lecturers and industry professionals who are experts in the area.

CA Sri Lanka is the sole professional organisation in the country which offers a degree in accounting as well as a professional qualification in accounting. The main objective of the BSc. (Applied Accounting) Degree programme is to create employable graduates with the required skills, competencies and industry knowledge to fulfil a successful accounting career.

The degree programme offered in English which comes with a host of exemptions for the chartered qualification is designed to impart quality professional education specific to the existing and emerging requirement of the financial sector.

The BSc. in Applied Accounting is designed under two stages where students can either complete the BSc. in Applied Accounting General Degree within a period of three years over a period of six semesters or the BSc. in Applied Accounting Special Degree which can be conducted over a period of four years, covering eight semesters.

Entry requirements for the degree programme includes 3 Advanced Level passes in any stream under the local or London curriculum, while students with pending A/Lresults can also register for the degree programme.
