In a new Facebook public post, the firm’s chief executive and co-founder, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg, announced that employees had moved into the new building with more open spaces — and soil (plus grass).
Designed by Canadian-born American architect Frank Owen Gehry, the new structure was built with one goal in mind, says Mr. Zuckerberg, and that is to “create the perfect engineering space for our teams to work together.”
Similar to design being introduced by Google, this new Facebook building features a single room that can accommodate thousands of employees.
This design will allow people to work better, move from one spot to another, or adjust a specific area to house a single project.
“On the roof is a 9-acre park with walking trails and many outdoor spaces to sit and work,” Mr. Zuckerberg said.
“The building itself is pretty simple and isn’t fancy. That’s on purpose. We want our space to feel like a work in progress.
When you enter our buildings, we want you to feel how much left there is to be done in our mission to connect the world,” he added.
In the comment section of Mr. Zuckerberg’s post, former Google and Instagram employee, and now product manager at Facebook, Chris Marra, has shared a photo of the CEO’s first meeting inside the new building.
He also added that Facebook is “currently hiring”.
This past week has been busy for Facebook, from its CEO, down to its interns.
Mr. Zuckerberg recently revealed that its internet drones project had completed its first test launch in the sky above the United Kingdom.
And then, Facebook announced that its Messenger application is now a “platform” after tweaking it to accommodate third-party applications.
