The Audi A3, the premium compact bestseller from the brand with the four rings, is the 2014 World Car of the Year.
This is the second overall title for Audi in the ten year history of the World Car of the Year Awards as the Audi A6 won the inaugural overall title in 2005.
Speaking at the launch, Director of Audi Sri Lanka, Mr. Rajieve M Fernando said, “Audi Sri Lanka is bringing a sporty sedan to the compact segment for the first time.
It owes its sportiness to its low weight, which is thanks to Audi's superior lightweight construction technology.
The design of the 446 centimeter-long (14.63 ft) Audi A3 Sedan combines the classic three-box concept with the dynamics of a coupe. The flat roof ends in a C-pillar that flos smoothly into the shoulder of the body.
The tornado line forms a stark shadow contour, and the fenders are strongly flared. Furthermore the large, 425-liter (19.07 cu ft) trunk can be expanded by folding down the rear seatbacks”.

One highlight of the Audi A3 is the power-retracting, 5.8 or 7-inch MMI monitor, which is just eleven millimeters (0.43 in) thick.
The new electromechanical parking brake creates room on the center tunnel console for the terminal of the optional MMI operating system. The top-of-the-line version MMI navigation plus with MMI touch features, is yet another innovation, while the top of the round rotary pushbutton is a touchpad.
“Drivers can even enter letters and digits with their finger, just like in the Audi full-size class”.

The system can also be expanded to include the optional adaptive shock absorbers”. He went on to say that , “currently our product portfolio includes A1, A3, A5, A7 and the flagship model A8 within the Audi range.
