Honda Civic Type R returns in first official image

Honda Poland has published an image with the Civic Type R sitting alongside the Civic 5D hatchback and the Civic Tourer wagon.

The hot hatchback will receive its public debut tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show and we already know how the rear end and interior cabin look like.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise the exterior design isn’t as spectacular as the Civic Type R Concept (and Concept II) but many will be disappointed the taillights are no longer built into that crazy rear wing.

We know for sure power comes from a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine delivering more than 280 HP (206 kW) sent to the 19-inch glossy black wheels.

It will allow the front-wheel drive Civic Type R production version hit a best-in-segment top speed of 167 mph (270 km/h) while stopping power on the front axle will be provided by Brembo 350mm drilled discs.

Honda has previously mentioned the Civic Type R will benefit from a "steer axis" system boasting two additional "kingpins" in the front suspension and there's also a four-point adaptive damper system.

On the inside it will get a pair of bucket seats and an "+R" button mounted on the steering wheel which if pressed will heighten the engine and throttle response.
