The First Ferry completes high-end projects at Burj Khalifa and Redknee JLT Dubai

The First Ferry, a Dubai based international boutique design office with offices in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and India was recently awarded the design for apartment 5509 which is owned by a young and dynamic couple.

The First Ferry also effectively completed the Offices of Redknee in JLT, Dubai.

The First Ferry embedded 3 evident design characteristics for the Burj Khalifa apartment; chic minimalistic, technological showcase, and playful organic to this apartment.

The First Ferry is known for their cutting-edge style and classy designs. The young and dynamic Interior Firm advocates a design by emotion and immersion philosophy, in contrast to the mainstream of ‘design by aesthetics’.

A belief that holds true for them is that the viewer, observer and user of the space immediately becomes interactive with the space. The company is set to open in Sri Lanka soon.

Mr. Prateek Chaudhry, Skipper and Founder of The First Ferry, said "Not much else can be said about the Burj Khalifa that has not already been said: one of the greatest engineering feats in modern history; considered the most prestigious addresses in the world, the finest merger of engineering elements with the richest interior finishes and concepts; a single building showcasing the most technologically advanced materials, talented design brands and design compositions ever, etc.

He further added, "After the awarding of the project we first immersed ourselves within the interior architecture of the space to get a feel of the place before considering finishes, fabrics, and veneers.

A striking characteristic of the Burj Khalifa interiors is the lack of straight lines. Devoid of any square angles or perpendicular lines, The First Ferry decided to design the spaces from an entirely volumetric point of view.

With the impossibility of designing one wall without reference to adjacencies, as all the walls in fact merge, in one form or another. Our art house had to address wall finishes and conceive interesting wall accents, mind-full of the fact that the external views were the highlights of the apartment – something which The First Ferry wanted to accentuate and highlight rather than downplay with dramatic wall attractions".

He added regarding the Redknee project, "When The First Ferry designed the Redknee Dubai office, the designers took every measure to reflect that same understated power into its interior corporate image.

Understated confidence, and outside the box thinking was key concept words that were earmarked as the interior design character.

The First Ferry wanted to present an interior that was not rigid; laid back enough to be conducive to good thinking and cultivation of ideas, yet functional enough to provide for all the conveniences of a good working office".

The First Ferry is a Dubai based international boutique design office with offices at present in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and India and will be opening offices soon in Kenya and in Sri Lanka.

Their years of international interior design presence has equipped them with a unique skill set which makes them able to derive design concepts and inspiration with surgical accuracy, and hence can provide the best possible creative outcome.

Always, the solutions are reflective of the client; not the designers, and each completed project tells a different story. The First Ferry is a holistic designer. The time spent in designing a room is proportionately connected with the emotional impact one would receive by being immersed in the space.
