After this morning's rumor, McLaren has made the news official by announcing Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso are now teammates.

McLaren has decided to keep Jenson Button for next year's season at the expense of Kevin Magnussen who will work from now on as the team's test and reserve driver.

2015 will be Jenson Button's sixth season at McLaren while Fernando Alonso is combing back after his short stay in Woking in 2007.

A side from modifying the driver lineup, McLaren has also changed the engine supplier by making the switch from Mercedes to Honda for next year’s MP4-30 car.

Jenson Button (34) and Fernando Alonso (33) will be the oldest and most experienced duo in the 2015 Formula 1 season.

During today's official introduction as McLaren driver, Fernando Alonso said “I am joining this project with enormous enthusiasm and determination, knowing that it may require some time to achieve the results we are aiming for, which is no problem for me."

Jenson Button declared that "like Fernando, I am certain that McLaren and Honda will achieve great things together, and I feel sure that, working together, all of us will pull incredibly hard to create a brilliantly effective winning team."
